Mouth of Babes Ministries, COGBF

 March 4, 2001- Present

In the summer of 2000 four young men gathered in a small apartment and discussed forming not only a friendship, but also a fellowship. After prayer, the name that God had revealed to one of the men many years earlier was chosen. Mouth of Babes Ministries from St Matthew 21:16. After many hours of prayer and planning, doors began to open and the place had been selected. Many attempts were made to start in other areas of the city as well as the Puget Sound area. However, in November 2000 God spoke very clearly and said to us the Tillicum/ Woodbrook Community. In December of 2000 one of the young men contacted the administration at Tillicum Elementary School. We were informed that it was available for the times that we were interested in. So we selected a date of March 4, 2001 and began service. We remained at Tillicum elementary until August 11, 2003 when we moved to our present location.

In January 2005 we expanded our facility with the help of Pastor Donald Kinsey of Grace Revival Tabernacle and were blessed with pews from Hosanna Family Worship Center of Lakewood Kevin Rogers Pastor.

2005 also saw many changes for MOBM. We established and reestablished several ministries within our church. Men & Women’s Ministries with monthly fellowships, our Youth ministry and various activities.

2005 also brought us an increase in membership with the addition of several families all of whom have come with a willing mind & heart to help make this ministry even stronger and better

Pastor Jones is the only one remaining with the ministry and yet God has blessed us tremendously. We have grown to a membership of 30 with up to 50 or more attending services regularly. This ministry has become a fixture in the community and in the lives of many others.

Our mission statement is: “To disciple each person to have an impact on their family and each family to impact their community for Christ.”

For this is the place where “God is good all the time and all the time God is good”

National Church

The Church of God by Faith is an African-American Holiness body of Christians.

The Church of God By Faith, Inc. was founded in 1914 in Jacksonville, Florida by Crawford Bright, John Bright, Aaron Matthews, Sr. and Nathaniel Scippio. In 1922 an assembly was held in Alachua, Florida, a charter was drafted, and the name Church of God By Faith, Inc. officially adopted. Since 1987, the annual meetings of the church have been held in Atlanta, Georgia. The church stands in the holiness tradition, teaching that entire sanctification is an instantaneous work obtained by faith, but must be preceded through the consecration of the individual. Divine healing is held, but they do not reject the use of medicine and doctors if necessary. The church's articles of faith do not address the issue of speaking in tongues. National headquarters are located in Jacksonville, Florida. Most of the churches are in the southeastern United States – especially Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

In 1996, the Church of God by Faith had 8325 members in 145 congregations.

Our Symbol

These Colors and Symbols are biblically founded (Exodus 23:3-5) and have significant meanings:

Gold denotes divinity

Red signifies the sacrificial blood of Christ

Blue implies heavenly origin

Purple
means the royalty of the believers

White
denotes the pureness of Christ

The Shield
represents the faith of the "BY FAITH" family (Ephesians 6:16)

The Three Points of the Shield
are in remembrance of our Founding Fathers, Elders Matthews, Scippo and Bright (Psalms 37:37)

The Globe
is the focus of the Gospel and the endeavor of the Church Of God By Faith. To reach the entire world. (Matthew 28:19)

The Cross of Christ
being blood- stained and empty, symbolizes the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. We have victory in the cross being empty and vacant. The Bible distinctly declares "cursed is everyone that changeth on the tree." (Deuteronomy 21:23, Galatians 3:13)

The Dove
represents the Holy Spirit's descent on the world, particularly on the Church of God By Faith, "GOD IS WITH US." (John 14:17, Acts 2:1-4, Ephesians 1:13).
